Attendance Dip = Cancellation Warning: Setting Up the 2-Miss Alert System

Cancellations are predictable. Two missed classes in a row is your early warning. Here is how to act on it.

The signal

Almost every cancellation is preceded by an attendance dip. The student who trains twice a week and suddenly misses two in a row is telling you something.

The 2-miss rule

Any student who misses two consecutive scheduled classes triggers an alert.

The response ladder

  1. Miss 2 – Text from instructor (same day): "Hey Jake, we missed you this week! Everything OK?"
  2. Miss 3 – Phone call from the head instructor.
  3. Miss 4 – Personal card + invite to a special class or event.

Setup

  • Pull an attendance report every Monday and Thursday
  • Assign one staff member ownership of the alert list
  • Log every contact attempt

Schools running this consistently cut monthly cancellations by a third or more.
