The pattern
Students rarely quit while chasing a goal. They quit right after reaching one. For most schools that lands around month 3 (first rank) and month 6 (second rank).
Why it happens
- The goal is achieved, and there is no new one in sight
- Curriculum gets harder right when motivation dips
- Parents re-evaluate spending at the "natural stopping point"
The bridge system
- Pre-announce the next goal at the belt ceremony. Hand them the next stripe card on stage.
- Two-week check-in call. Instructor calls the parent 14 days after every promotion.
- New-rank buddy. Pair them with someone one rank above.
- Leadership preview. Invite month-6 students to help with warm-ups.
Track it
Tag every student with their last promotion date. Any student 7–21 days post-promotion with a missed class gets a personal call, same day.
